About my mom, Amy Zoe Mason

My mother was born in Ames, Iowa. She was an only child. Her parents named her Amy Zoe after her two grandmothers. I love the name Zoe because it means "life". I never knew my grandfather, because he died when my mom was little, but I know that he was a teacher and a writer. My mom had his old typewriter and liked to use it. She said that it helped her feel close to him. I loved playing with the old typewriter and I wish that we still had it. It was lost in our move, like so many of my mother's things. It makes me really mad that I don't have my mother's things.

My grandmother was really nice. She lived with us in Houston. She died just a few months before my mom. I really miss Grandma, too.

My mom always liked art, even when she was little and she studied art in college. We loved doing art projects with her. When I was in elementary school in Houston, my mom always volunteered to help in Art and I was really proud when she was there because all the kids thought that I had such a nice mom.

My dad is a doctor and he met my mom right when he was finishing. It was love at first sight, because my dad says that he loved her red hair. After they got married, they had me and my brother Alex. My mom said that the three happiest days of her life were getting married to my dad, having me and having Alex.
